Event Overview

|
 |
Carcinoid 2004 took place on September 23rd through 25th at
the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel in New Orleans. The conference
was geared towards patients and their families, focusing on
diagnosis and management of this rare disease.
The conference was designed to make patients with this rare
disease aware of the most recent medical information concerning
the diagnosis and management of their tumors. The twelve
speakers included the world experts on carcinoid and carcinoid
syndrome. These individuals presented the latest, often unpublished,
updates on these tumors.
In addition, sessions on legal implications of having cancer,
nutrition, end of life care, alternative medicine approaches to
carcinoid and financial planning were presented. The conference
kicked off on Thursday night with a social event and
devoted Friday and Saturday to presentations for patients and
their families.
