New Horizons in NET Management
NANETS Conference 2008, Southampton Bermuda
|
 |
The North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) held its first conference
on 8-9 February 2008 at the lovely Fairmont Hotel, overlooking the beachfront in
Southampton Bermuda. Unlike other neuroendocrine tumor conferences that are patient-oriented,
this event was designed for physicians and other health professionals.
The program of the conference focused on detection, diagnosis and treatment of
neuroendocrine tumor (NET) disease. Leading experts in the field discussed different aspects of
epidemiology, biochemical evaluation, imaging, histopathology, surgery, and various therapies in
regard to specific NET origins. Attendees earned credits from the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Oregon Health & Science University
and NANETS.
The hallmark of this event was its emphasis on developing an interdisciplinary approach to
diagnosis and treatment of NET diseases. The presentations and poster sessions covered recent
scientific progress and insights from ongoing clinical trials. The audience members had many
opportunities for questions and networking with the faculty.
All the plenary presentations were recorded, and may be reviewed in audio, video, or video
synchronised with the presentation graphics.
